Mary Greenacre est artiste et professeure qui vit et travaille en Bretagne. 

'Je cherche à capturer l'essence ou l'âme du sujet; un sens évocateur de la personne ou de l'objet. Comme un souvenir qui se réveille.

 

Ma pratique a ses racines dans le dessin académique qui aide à donner de la crédibilité au travail et un échafaudage solide. La technique est beaucoup plus sensorielle et organique. La couleur et les marques servent à évoquer l'humeur. L'harmonie tonale est essentielle pour que les formes émergent progressivement de leur environnement d'une manière douce et discrète.

Le processus implique de longues périodes de réflexion et de retravaille, et juste assez de détails pour faire respirer le sujet.'

Mary Greenacre is a British artist and teacher living and working in Brittany.

​

'I seek to capture the essence or soul of the subject; an evocative sense of the person or object. Like a memory that is re-awakened.

 

My practice has its roots in academic drawing which helps to give credibility to the work and a firm scaffolding. The technique is much more sensory and organic. Colour and marks serve to evoke mood. Tonal harmony is key to making the forms gradually emerge from their surroundings in a gentle, understated way.

 

The process involves lengthy periods of reflection and re-working, and just enough detail to make the subject breathe.'
